Sprint Desktop Programmer Algorithms

Program the latest devices with the most up-to-date programming algorithms

Download the latest programming algorithms for your Sprint programmer here, including Plus48, Optima Light, Optima, Dual, Quad, and Octal.

Your Sprint software is available in both DOS and Windows versions. The DOS version is for stand-alone use. The Windows version will operate as a stand-alone program or will work with TaskLink™ for Windows v4.1 and higher. All algorithms, including updates, are built into the Sprint software.

Are you still using Sprint for Windows? Click here to learn about the advantages of TaskLink™ for Windows.

Your Sprint programmer algorithm updates are available in two variations, Released Algorithms and Interim-Release Algorithms. The released algorithms contain tested and verified programming algorithms for all of the devices contained in its library, both memory and logic devices, as well as the latest operating software for the programmer modules. Interim Release versions of Optima PAL (for logic devices) and Optima PROM (for memory devices) are also available and contain BETA algorithms that have recently been developed and are currently being tested. There is also an Interim Release of Optima TEST, the Sprint diagnostics program. The Interim Release algorithms are available for download, but are to be used at your risk and liability. Once they are fully verified, they will become part of the next set of Released Algorithms.

NOTE: You may download and install recent algorithm releases, but only those algorithms that have been released prior to your SMP (Software Maintenance Plan) expiration date will be available through the product menus.

For access to the very latest algorithms, your Sprint programmer must have an up-to-date SMP.

What do I do with the software after I download it?

After you download the files that you need from the list above, you need to install them on your computer. To do so, perform the steps outlined below.

Using the Windows Software

The Sprint for Windows software, while usable by itself, can also used with TaskLink for Windows v4.1. It contains all of the operational controls for the stand-alone version of the software as well as all of the programming algorithms for both the stand-alone and TaskLink for Windows functionality.

After downloading the Sprint for Windows software, perform the following:

Stand-alone Software—

  1. Once the Windows software has been downloaded, copy the file to the directory in which the Sprint software is to be installed. If this is an update from a previous version, it is recommended that the software be placed in a different directory than the earlier version. This will ensure that a working copy is still available in the event that there is a problem with a beta/interim algorithm.
  2. Double click the executable file. This file is compressed and is self-extracting. Several files will be created in the same directory. Once the files have been extracted, the executable may be deleted or archived for later use. If you receive a message about overwriting or replacing a file that already exists, say yes to each such message.
  3. For Windows NT users, read the Install.txt that comes with the NT software BEFORE you use it. For Windows 3.x and 9x users, the software is ready to use.
  4. You may create shortcuts to the Windows program files and place them on your desktop if you like, or any other location that is convenient for you. Optima PROM is PRSWO.EXE; Optima PAL is OPALW.EXE; Optima TEST is OTESTW.EXE.

TaskLink for Windows—

  1. Once the Windows software has been downloaded, copy the file to the default TaskLink for Windows directory on your computer. By default, TaskLink is installed in c:\dataio\tlwin. If TaskLink is installed in a different directory, ensure that the downloaded file is copied into the correct directory.
  2. Double click the executable file. This file is compressed and is self-extracting. Several files will be created in the same directory. Once the files have been extracted, the executable may be deleted or archived for later use. If you receive a message about overwriting or replacing a file that already exists, say yes to each such message.
  3. To update the programming algorithms, start TaskLink for Windows. From the menus at the top of the TaskLink window, select Tools > Device Database Update.

Using the DOS Software

  1. Once the DOS software has been downloaded, copy the file to the directory in which the Sprint software is to be installed.
  3. You may create shortcuts to the DOS program files and place them on your desktop if you like, or any other location that is convenient for you. Optima PROM is PROM.EXE; Optima PAL is PAL.EXE; Optima TEST is OPTITEST.EXE.
